Closures Coming to Parking Lots on August 9

Arrowhead Park improvements continue as Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation works to renovate the Arrowhead House into an indoor event space and upgrade the park’s internal trails.

The next phase of trail improvements will start on August 9, 2024, and will result in the closure of the north and south parking lots in the park. The north parking lot will be swept and reopened by 5 p.m. on August 9. The south parking lot, south walking loop, and restroom facilities will remain closed until early September. During this time, temporary toilets will be available in the north parking lot.

These closures are necessary for the contractor to transfer materials and equipment from the north parking lot to the south parking lot in preparation for the next construction phase. The remaining asphalt portions of the trail will be replaced with new concrete surfacing, and spot repairs will be made to selected concrete portions of the existing trail.

“The trails are really popular and a great place to get out in nature,” said Tory Miedema, Park Development Specialist. “The trails bring you to all the exciting features in the park, like the quarry ponds, the historic barn on the south side of the park, and through the trees. Please avoid areas of the park under construction and respect closures.”
