Prescribed Burn Planned at Pasley Park

Published on April 23, 2024

Sioux Falls, South Dakota:  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue (SFFR) crews will conduct a prescribed burn in Pasley Park (2301 South Southeastern Avenue) on April 24.

Prescribed fires help clear noxious weeds and promote native prairie restoration. SFFR crews will be on-site to manage the burn, monitor smoke, and ensure the fire is fully extinguished. The prescribed burn is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be complete by 5 p.m. The park and trail will remain open during the burn.

Prescribed fires are carefully performed under approved conditions. Humidity, fuel moisture, wind speed and direction, and short- and long-range weather patterns are all considered in establishing the right conditions for a prescribed fire.
