How Animal Control and the Humane Society Work Together

Animal Control and the Humane Society are separate organizations that partner to care for animals in our community. Here's how it works:

• The Humane Society houses animals picked up within city limits.
• Animals without a license or microchip are held for 3 days.
• Animals with a license or microchip are held for 5 days (giving owners more time to be found).
• Sundays and holidays don't count toward these hold periods
• After the hold period, an animal becomes the property of the Humane Society, which works to find it a new home
