Street Trees

Street trees, any tree in a public parking strip, make Sioux Falls neighborhoods beautiful. The City encourages the planting of street trees. Due to their location, it's important to manage them correctly. The care and maintenance of street trees is the responsibility of the abutting property owner, however the Forestry Team has several programs available to help homeowners. Explore the resources below for more information on how to grow health street trees and manage existing ones.

Street Tree Planting

Plant street trees! Get tips for fostering healthy trees, and apply for street tree planting permits. Get $50 off with each approved tree.

Street Tree Trimming

The Parks and Recreation Forestry Team organizes a proactive tree inspection program to ensure low-hanging tree branches over streets and sidewalks are properly trimmed.

Tips for Tree Care

Did you just plant a tree? Do you have a tree on your property that you love? See Sioux Falls' top eight tips for growing healthy trees.

Ash Borer

Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive insect that threatens the health of Sioux Falls' ash trees. Sioux Falls encourages residents to learn about the facts of EAB so we can fight this infestation together.
