Right of Way Street Closure / Block Party Permit

A block party is a great way to build community and meet your neighbors and invest in your neighborhood!

Why Host a Block Party

Neighborhoods with active social connections often see higher levels of civic engagement and a stronger sense of shared pride in local parks and infrastructure.

  • Enhanced Neighborhood Safety: When neighbors know each other by name, they are more likely to look out for one another’s property and notice unusual activity.
  • Strengthened Community Ties: It’s the easiest way to welcome new residents and reconnect with long-time neighbors in a relaxed, fun environment.
  • Resource Sharing: From finding a trusted local babysitter to discovering a great nearby contractor, block parties are the ultimate "local network."

To ensure the safety of all residents and emergency vehicle access, the City requires a Right of Way Street Closure Permit for any event that blocks a public roadway. This permit process ensures that our Police, Fire, and EMS departments know exactly where closures are located, keeping your guests and the rest of the city safe.
