If you believe that the City has discriminated against you because of your disability or has failed to ensure that its services, activities, or programs are accessible for individuals with disabilities, you may complete an ADA Grievance Questionnaire. Alternative means of filing complaints, such as personal interviews or a tape recording of the complaint, will be made available for persons with disabilities upon request.
The complaint should be submitted to the City as soon as possible but no later than 60 calendar days after the alleged violation occurred. All complaints should be submitted to:

What happens after filing an ADA Grievance?
Within 60 calendar days of the receipt, the ADA Coordinator will conduct the investigation necessary to determine validity of the alleged violation. If appropriate, the ADA Coordinator will arrange to meet with the grievant to discuss the matter and attempt to reach an informal resolution of the grievance. Any informal resolution of the grievance will be documented in the City’s ADA Grievance File.
If an informal resolution of the grievance is not reached, the ADA Coordinator shall issue a written determination of the validity of the complaint and a description of the resolution no later than 90 days from the date of the City’s receipt of the grievance. A copy will be forwarded to the grievant.
If the grievant is dissatisfied with the written determination, the grievant may appeal the determination pursuant to the Code of Ordinances of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Chapter 30.040 within fifteen (15) days.
An individual may also file a complaint directly with the U.S. Department of Justice or other appropriate state or federal agency. The ADA Coordinator is hereby directed to institute appropriate education and outreach efforts to ensure wide dissemination of the requirements of the ADA as it pertains to the responsibilities of the City of Sioux Falls.
