Traffic Counts

The City of Sioux Falls collects 24-hour, daily vehicle traffic volumes on its major road segments each year. This data is available to the public for development, street construction, and long-range planning.

The City of Sioux Falls Traffic Count Viewer combines data collected by the City and South Dakota Department of Transportation.

How We Measure

Public Works’ Engineering Division uses temporary traffic counters placed across the road to detect how many vehicles drive over. The collected data is factored by the day of the week and month of the year to become an Average Annual Daily Total (AADT).
