Cross Country Skiing

The City of Sioux Falls maintains a system of groomed Nordic (cross-country) ski trails across four locations, offering residents and visitors a great way to enjoy a variety of scenic views, varying skill levels, and excellent winter exercise.

Sioux Falls Nordic Ski Trail Locations

Sioux Falls offers four primary locations for cross-country skiing, from gentle loops to a 6-kilometer groomed park. Parking is available at all trail sites.

Skier's Responsibility Code (Safety Rules)

Skiing involves inherent risks. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all trail users, please adhere to the following code:

  • Maintain Control: Always stay in control and be able to stop or avoid other people and objects.

  • Right-of-Way: Skiers who are ahead of you have the right-of-way. It is your personal responsibility to avoid them.

  • Stopping on Trails: Never stop where you obstruct a trail or are not clearly visible from above.

  • Yielding: When starting downhill or merging onto a trail, you must look uphill and yield to others already on the path.

  • Equipment Safety: Always use devices designed to help prevent runaway equipment.

  • Obey Warnings: Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
