Southeast Basins Sanitary Sewer Extension

The Southeast Sanitary Sewer Extension project will install a gravity sewer, forcemain, and a pump station to serve Southeast Sioux Falls for the next 100 years. There was a study conducted in 2022 to start developing sanitary sewer trunk alignments and pipe sizes. The study area consisted of the current Sioux Falls city limits south to CR 106 (271st Street) and from I-29 over to SD Highway 11. Construction is tentatively planned to begin in mid-2026 and continue with a phased approach, with final completion in 2030.

This website will have periodic updates as progress on the project continues. Interested citizens should stay involved by watching this website. The existing information on this webpage was presented at the public open houses the City has sponsored.

The next public open house will be held at Harrisburg North Middle School, 2201 W. 95th Street, Sioux Falls, SD, on Tuesday, August 26, at 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Anyone unable to attend may submit written comments prior to the meeting to: Shannon Ausen, P.E., Engineering Program Manager, 231 N. Dakota Ave., P.O. Box 7402, Sioux Falls, SD 57117-7402, or email at Shannon.ausen@siouxfalls.gov.
