SIOUXPERHERO Guidelines

“I believe there are countless examples of amazing people and inspirational stories in our city,” says Councilor Marshall Selberg, Southwest District. “We see it in our neighborhoods, schools, churches, and in our own homes. This citizen recognition program offers us an opportunity to recognize those everyday individuals who are making a difference in Sioux Falls. Let’s find them!”

In January 2018, the City Council approved a resolution establishing the SIOUXPERHERO Citizen Recognition Program. The objectives of the program are to emphasize positive stories, people, and developments in Sioux Falls, and encourage others to become more active, positive forces in the community. “If you know someone who is making a difference, we want to hear from you,” says Councilor Selberg. “Publicly recognizing these SIOUXPERHEROES can be a small token of our community appreciation for their selfless efforts.”

Nomination forms can found online or by visiting Carnegie Town Hall located at 235 West Tenth Street. Nominations that meet the eligibility requirements will be reviewed by a panel consisting of four City Council members, two Sioux Falls residents, and one City staff member who will recommend nominees to the full City Council for recognition.
