Our purpose is to make Sioux Falls a greener, safer, and healthier city. Parks and Recreation's Forestry Team is responsible for the health, diversity, and productivity of approximately 54,000 trees on City-owned property. We’re working hard to keep our streets, parks, and neighborhoods green and thriving.

Here's How

  • Routinely inspecting and pruning park and street trees to keep our urban forest healthy and safe.
  • Planting new trees every year to expand our tree coverage and create a greener city.
  • Identifying and addressing tree health and safety risks with Project TRIM and Forest Health Survey.
• Offering planting permits and cost-sharing options to encourage street tree planting in the boulevard and provide a list of licensed arborists.
  • Being on standby to assist during storms to clear debris and restore our community.
