The Fleet Management Division is the team behind the machines. We are responsible for purchasing, maintaining, and repairing the City’s diverse inventory of vehicles and equipment. From snowplows and fire trucks to transit buses and police cars, our goal is to keep the City of Sioux Falls moving.

What We Do

The Fleet Division works directly with other City departments to ensure they have the reliable tools they need to serve the public every day.

Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: We follow a regular schedule to check and fix city vehicles. This "cyclic" program helps us catch small problems before they become big breakdowns. It also ensures every vehicle stays safe and lasts as long as possible.

Buying New Equipment: Our team handles the details and purchasing for all new city machines. We buy everything from heavy-duty construction equipment to fuel-saving cars used by city staff.

Managing Parts and Supplies: We keep a large stock of spare parts and tools on hand. To make sure repairs happen fast, we have a dedicated specialist who organizes this inventory. This helps get city vehicles back on the road quickly.
