File an Online Police Report

Welcome to the Sioux Falls Police Department Online Police Reporting System. Online police reporting allows the public to submit a report electronically at their own convenience for specific incidents that occurred within the Sioux Falls City Limits.

To file an online police report, you must be at least 18 years of age and must have a valid email address. Other factors to consider when determining if online reporting is right for you:

  • Is the incident an emergency? If yes, stop and dial 9-1-1,
  • Is there any evidence to be collected?
  • Does this incident involve a stolen firearm?
  • Does this incident involve stolen medication?
  • Does this incident involve a stolen vehicle, trailer, ATV/UTV (including anything with a VIN or license plate?

If you answered NO to the above questions, you are ready to file an online police report.

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, please call the non-emergency number 605-367-7000, for additional assistance.

Online Reporting can be used for the following list of crimes if they are not in progress:

  • Graffiti
  • Harassing Phone Call
  • Identity Theft
  • Illegal Dumping
  • Lost Property
  • Theft
  • Theft From Vehicle
  • Vandalism
  • Vehicle Vandalism

Upon completion of your online report, you will:

  • Receive a message stating your report has been submitted,
  • Receive an email with a tracking number,
  • Be able to view and print a copy of the online information for your records.

Please Note:

  • All online reports will be reviewed.
  • Upon review, if additional information is needed, you may be contacted.
  • To provide additional information about a previously submitted report, call 605-367-7234 between 8:00-5:00, Monday through Friday, and ask to speak to the assigned detective.
  • Filing a false police report is a crime under S.D.C.L. 22-11-9.
