SFFR Achieves Reaccreditation, Ranks in Top One Percent Nationally

Published on March 01, 2024

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue (SFFR) received Reaccredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) by meeting criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. With this fifth reaccreditation, SFFR has achieved 20 years of accredited status. Paired with an ISO 1 rating, reaccreditation ranks SFFR among the top one percent of agencies in the country.

“This achievement is a win for the community, and one that we are humbled by,” said SFFR Chief Matt McAreavey. “Team SFFR is committed to excellence, and as Sioux Falls continues to grow, teamwork and collaboration drive us to take care of today as we plan for tomorrow.”

The CFAI process provides agencies with an improvement model to assess service delivery and performance. The accreditation process includes a description and appraisal of every aspect of the organization. When program opportunities are identified, an improvement plan is developed.

“Accreditation with the CFAI asserts the organization’s dedication to continuous improvement and the Sioux Falls community,” shared SFFR Division Chief Steve Fessler. “Thank you to each of our public safety partners as we work together to save lives and protect property.”
