Street Construction Update

Lane Closures – 85th Street

Beginning on Sunday, August 11, 2024, after 8 p.m., the westbound lanes on West 85th Street will be routed around the closure at South Louise Avenue, through the intersection, shifted to the eastbound lane, and transition back to the westbound lanes through the recently removed median on the west side of the intersection.

Xcel Energy is continuing to work on installing new underground and overhead facilities. This work is ongoing and anticipated to be completed sometime in August, depending on weather and construction progress.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closure – 10th & 11th Street

Beginning on Monday, August 12, 2024, the northern most lane on West 10th Street and West 11th Street will be closed at South Prairie Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete removals for curb repairs and accessible curb ramp improvements. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times on 10th Street and 11th Street.

This work is Phase One of the Traffic Signal, Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvements project, which is part of the 15th Street Bicycle Boulevard. Phase One of the project is expected to take two weeks, at which time traffic control will be switched and Phase Two will begin.

Phase Two of the project will close the southern portion of each intersection. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times on 10th Street and 11th Street.

Lane Closure – Sixth Street

Beginning Monday, August 12, 2024, the eastbound lane on East Sixth Street will be closed, just east of the Big Sioux River Bridge. Traffic will be diverted to the westbound lane, and traffic will alternate thru the closure.

Journey Construction will be utilizing a lift for additional work in the area. The work is expected to be complete in one week.

Utility Work – Lewis Park Area

Beginning on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 crews will be performing repairs to the sanitary sewer at various locations between South Cliff Avenue and South Lewis Avenue and between East 49th Street and East 54th Street. There will be intermittent short term lane restrictions, short term road closures, and driveway access restrictions as the work progresses. 

Weather permitting, the repairs are anticipated to be complete within three weeks.
