Parks and Recreation Looks to Hire 500 Seasonal Positions for 2025

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation announced recruitment has begun for the summer 2025 season. The department is seeking applicants for various roles, including lifeguards, recreation assistants, park maintenance workers, and more. With summer approaching, the department aims to hire 500 seasonal workers by May 1 to help deliver exceptional recreational experiences and maintain the more than 80 beautiful parks in Sioux Falls.
The department offers flexibility in scheduling and competitive wages ranging from $15 to $19 per hour. The department provides the opportunity to work outdoors in parks or in its indoor facilities. Available positions include:
- Aquatics: The department is looking to hire approximately 100 lifeguards for the summer season, with starting pay at $17.06 per hour. There are also other positions like cashier or water safety instructor available. Applicants must be at least 15 years old.
- Recreation: These individuals will assist with various tasks, including running recreation programs and events in the community, starting at $15.99 per hour. There are also roles specific to the Westside Recreation Center or Jacobson Plaza available. Applicants must be at least 15 years old.
- Park Maintenance: Positions include mowing, marking fields, and preparing restrooms, with starting pay at $18.12 per hour. These positions are suited for individuals 18 and older and available to work from March to September.
