The City of Sioux Falls Street Division declared a snow alert beginning at 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025.

Plowing Schedule

Emergency Routes

Plowing of emergency snow routes began on Monday, February 10, 2025, and will continue until routes are clear. Emergency routes are first priority in any snow event and operations will be adaptable, based on weather, between emergency and residential routes. All vehicles parked on emergency snow routes during a declared snow alert are subject to ticketing and towing.

Zone 3

Plowing in Zone 3 will begin after Midnight, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, after emergency routes and secondary routes have been cleared. All public streets in Zone 3 will be plowed. Vehicles parked on public streets in Zone 3 are subject to ticketing and towing during snow plowing operations, until all streets have been plowed.

Zone 2

North / South Streets plowing will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025
All vehicles parked on north/south streets are subject to ticketing and towing until streets have been plowed or until 5 p.m., whichever is earlier. Although this requirement is in effect only until 5 p.m., any continuing snow removal operations may impact your use of the street for parking.

East / West Streets plowing will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025
All vehicles parked on east/west streets are subject to ticketing and towing until streets have been plowed or until 5 a.m., whichever is earlier. Although this requirement is in effect only until 5 a.m., any continuing snow removal operations may impact your use of the street for parking

Zone 1

Snow pickup operations in Zone 1 will begin on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Vehicles parked in Zone 1 will be subject to ticketing and towing between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025. During a snow alert, parking is prohibited in the downtown area between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Downtown residents and visitors are encouraged to park in a ramp during a snow alert. Reminders for Property Owners:

  • Snow and ice should be cleared from sidewalks—edge-to-edge and to the concrete—within 48 hours after snow stops falling, per city ordinance. Sidewalk curb ramps on corner lots and other curb cutouts should also be cleared, as property owners are responsible for providing access from the street onto the sidewalk.
  • Keep fire hydrants on your property clear of snow, ice, and other obstructions for 3 feet in all directions. Doing so can save valuable time in an emergency.
  • Clear a path to your mailbox. Mail carriers are not required to deliver your mail if they cannot reach your mailbox.
  • When clearing snow, either shoveling or using a snow blower, put excess snow in your yard, not on the sidewalk, right-of-way, or street. Depositing snow in the street is against City ordinance, plus more snow in the street means it will end up at the bottom of your driveway. Throughout the winter season, placing too much snow in the right-of-way will narrow City streets.
  • Clear storm drains on your property throughout the winter. Staying on top of it now will alleviate possible flooding during springtime melting.
