Beginning on Monday May 19, 2025, the outside westbound and outside eastbound lanes of 57th Street will have moving closures to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs in the area between Old Yankton Road and Western Avenue.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed within one week.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Recreational Trail Closure - Western Avenue to 49th Street

Beginning on Monday, May 19, 2025, construction will begin along the east side of the Big Sioux River, from I-229 to South Western Avenue. As a result, the recreational trail will be closed from Western Avenue to 49th Street. Additional work will also take place at the 49th Street bridge underpass.

This is the first of four phases in the reconstruction of the recreational trail between West 41st Street and Western Avenue and will include trail removal, asphalt paving, concrete paving, and restoration.

Weather permitting, this phase of the project is anticipated to be completed within three weeks.

The entire project is scheduled for completion by August 15, 2025.

Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to use alternate routes and exercise caution near the construction area.
