Recreational Trail Closure – Western Avenue to 49th Street

Beginning on Thursday, June 19, 2025, construction will begin along the east side of the Big Sioux River from West 49th Street to the Sertoma Trail Bridge. The trail will be closed to traffic along this section of the trail for reconstruction. A detour will be provided for this phase along the west bank of the river utilizing the West 41st Street and Sertoma Trail bridges.

Weather permitting, this phase of the project is anticipated to be completed within three weeks.

The entire project is scheduled for completion by August 15, 2025.

Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to use alternate routes and exercise caution near the construction area.
