Lane Closures – 12th Street

Beginning on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the eastbound lanes of West 12th Street will be closed between Ellis Road and Marion Road to allow crews to perform various repair work and overlay the road. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction in the westbound lanes. Access to businesses and residents will be maintained during construction.

Work includes accessible curb ramp improvements, concrete repairs, storm drainage repairs, traffic signal improvements, concrete milling, and asphalt overlay. Work is expected to be completed in September

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Recreational Trail Closure Update – Western Avenue to 49th Street

The Recreation Trail construction is progressing ahead of schedule on the main loop from Yankton Trail Park to 41st Street. The trail is now open from Yankton Trail Park to the Sertoma Trail Bridge. The trail between 49th Street and the Sertoma Trail Bridge remains closed for reconstruction. A detour is in place, directing trail users to the west side of the channel and returning across 41st Street

Weather permitting, this phase of the project is expected to be completed within three weeks.

The entire project is scheduled for completion by August 15, 2025.

Pedestrians and cyclists are reminded to use caution near construction zones and not to bypass barricades for their safety.
