Street Construction Updates & Closures

Lane Closure – 14th Street
Beginning on Thursday, July 24, 2025, the outside westbound lane of East 14th Street will be closed between First Avenue and Second Avenue to allow crews to perform accessible curb ramp repairs. Portions of the sidewalk in this area will be closed, and pedestrians will be detoured around the work zone.
Lane closures along 14th Street will progress west as the work moves to the intersections of Phillips Avenue, Main Avenue, and Dakota Avenue. Once the work in the westbound lanes is complete, the lane closure will shift to the outside eastbound lane.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes
Lane Closure – 49th Street
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, the outside westbound lane on West 49th Street will be closed at the Big Sioux River to allow for asphalt paving operations along the Recreational Trail from 41st Street to 49th Street.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one day.
Lane Closure – 41st Street
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, the outside eastbound lane on West 41st Street will be closed at the Big Sioux River to allow for asphalt paving operations along the Recreational Trail from 41st Street to 49th Street.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one day.
Street Closure – Rice Street
Beginning on Monday, July 28, 2025, East Rice Street will be closed to thru traffic from TJN Recycling at 6511 East Rice Street to Veterans Parkway.
The City of Sioux Falls Street Division, along with the contractor, will be applying a Slurry Seal.
This work is anticipated to be completed on July 29, 2025.
