Water Advisory Lifted in Northeast Sioux Falls
Published on September 03, 2025
The boil water advisory for an area in northeast Sioux Falls has been lifted by the City of Sioux Falls’ Water Division. Follow-up water testing indicated that no E. coli bacteria are present in the drinking water supply, and corrective actions have been completed by City crews. Residents in the impacted area can resume consuming or using water for drinking, cooking, and all other purposes without having to boil it first.
“City water crews were on site late into the evening and throughout the morning flushing water in the affected area and collecting samples,” said Chris Myers, the City’s Water Superintendent. “Laboratory test results confirm that the drinking water now meets all state and federal standards, and residents may return to normal water use.”
On September 2, 2025, the City’s Water Division issued a precautionary boil water advisory for portions of its distribution system near Arrowhead Parkway and Veterans Parkway. The advisory was issued after a utility contractor, hired by the City, was in the process of cleaning and testing a new water line before putting it into service and opened a valve that temporarily connected the new line to the active distribution system before satisfactory water quality test results were available. City crews flushed the affected area and collected bacteriological samples throughout the system.
