Street Construction Updates & Closures

Lane Closure – Russell Street

Beginning on Monday, March 30, 2026, the outside and center eastbound lanes of West Russell Street will be closed between West Avenue and Minnesota Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete repairs, curb & gutter repairs, and joint resealing. 

One lane of traffic will be maintained in the inside eastbound lane. In the upcoming weeks, the location of the lane closure on eastbound Russell Street will vary between West Avenue and Minnesota Avenue. At a minimum, one eastbound lane of traffic will remain open at all times. At this time the westbound lanes will be fully open. Access to businesses, homes and side streets will be maintained.

This work in this area is anticipated to be complete in early May. Work on Russell Street will be ongoing through October 2026.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Street Closure – 42nd Street

Beginning on Monday, March 30, 2026, West 42nd Street will be closed east of Klein Avenue to allow crews to reconstruct the roadway. Work will include underground utility improvements, drainage improvements, asphalt paving, and restoration.

Work for this phase of the project is anticipated to be completed within three months.

Kuehn Park Aquatic Facility Construction

Beginning on Monday, March 30, 2026, construction will begin on the Kuehn Park Aquatic Facility. The northeast area of the park will be fenced off and the trail loop within the park closed to allow for the upcoming construction of the new facility.

The project is expected to be substantially complete in summer of 2027.

Visitors are urged to use caution and avoid areas of the park under construction.

Signal Improvements – Veterans Parkway

Beginning on Monday, March 30, 2026, the intersection of Veterans Parkway and East 26th Street will function as a 4-way stop with stop signs, to allow the contractor to work on traffic signals

This work is expected to be completed by the end of the day.
