ArtAbility Exhibit, Reception Planned for April 17
Published on March 30, 2026
The 13th annual ArtAbility exhibit and artist reception is set for Friday, April 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Underground by Rehfeld’s in the lower level of the Falls Center building at 431 N. Phillips Ave.
ArtAbility is an art exhibit for artists with disabilities sponsored by the City of Sioux Falls’ Disability Awareness and Accessibility Review Board (DAARB). The event provides an opportunity for artists to showcase their work as a means of self-expression. The board’s goal is to remove barriers for individuals with disabilities while promoting universal accessibility.
“ArtAbility is one of our community’s most meaningful celebrations of creativity, inclusion and self-expression,” said Cathleen Zepeda, chair of DAARB. “Each year, we are honored to showcase the incredible talent of artists with disabilities and create a space where their voices and stories can shine.”
The event will feature refreshments and art for sale, while highlighting artwork created by artists with disabilities. A sensory-friendly viewing will be offered earlier that day from 12 to 3 p.m. to accommodate guests with sensory needs.
Artists’ work will be available for purchase at the event. Payment methods include cash, checks and Venmo. Payment options may vary by artist.
The DAARB is an extension of the Human Relations Commission. It acts as an advisory body to the mayor, city council and the city’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator on disability awareness and universal accessibility of city buildings, programs and services.
The exhibit and artist reception is free and open to the public. No registration is required. More information about the 2026 ArtAbility exhibit can be found at siouxfalls.gov/artability.
If an ADA accommodation is needed, please contact the city’s Human Relations Office at (605) 367-8745 or human.relations@siouxfalls.gov at least 48 hours before the event.
