The City of Sioux Falls’ Housing Division invested $8.1 million in the community in 2025, supporting 1,898 residents. The division is reminding residents that funding is available to help with home and rental unit repairs as the community heads into spring and summer.
The city’s housing team, part of the Planning and Development Services department, uses federal, state and local funds to support housing assistance through its programs and strategic partnerships. The division’s mission is to help produce, preserve or rehabilitate safe, sanitary and affordable housing for income‑qualified homeowners and renters.
“Our goal is to help ensure residents have access to safe, sanitary and affordable housing,” said Logan Penfield, assistant director of planning and development for the city. “These programs allow us to meet families where they are and help preserve the long-term health of our neighborhoods. We want residents to know that help is available. Whether it's a critical repair or larger-scale rehabilitation, our team is here to support homeowners, renters and property owners in maintaining safe and affordable housing.”
For Sioux Falls residents, the city’s Housing Division offers three programs that provide financial assistance directly to low- and moderate-income households for repairs and replacements to single-family, rental and mobile home properties. Funding can help cover repairs such as plumbing, heating, electrical repairs, roof and window replacements, insulation and weatherization, accessibility improvements and essential painting.
