City to Host Wild Meadows Park Public Meeting

Published on April 23, 2026

The City of Sioux Falls’ Parks and Recreation Department will host a public meeting on Thursday, April 30, at 5:30 p.m. to share initial concepts and gather community input for the planned Wild Meadows Park in northeast Sioux Falls.

The meeting will take place at Oakview Library, Meeting Rooms 2 and 3, 3700 E. Third St. Staff will present concept options shaped by early community input, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, review preliminary survey feedback, and share ideas to help guide the next phase of planning.

“Community input is essential to creating a park that reflects the needs and priorities of the neighborhood,” said Mike Patten, park development manager for the city. “We encourage residents to attend, share ideas and help shape the future of their park.”

Wild Meadows Park is a newly planned, four-acre neighborhood park located at 5200 E. Brennan Dr. The surrounding neighborhood includes longtime residents as well as many young families, and the area has an increasing need for outdoor recreation space and community gathering areas.

In May 2025, following initial outreach to residents, the Parks and Recreation Department collected feedback to better understand the neighborhood’s priorities for the park. Survey results identified playground structures, walking loops, and integrated shade as the top desired amenities. Residents also expressed interest in native plantings, water features, comfortable seating, and nature-focused spaces. Most respondents indicated they anticipate visiting the park during evenings and weekends, either by walking or driving.

The final design is expected to be completed in fall 2026, with construction planned for 2027. For more information on the Wild Meadows Park project, visit siouxfalls.gov/wildmeadows.
