Street Construction Updates & Closures

Lane Closure – Ellis Road
Beginning on Monday, May 25, 2026, there will be day-time lane closures along Ellis Road at West 46th Street. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic. These closures are a part of the roadway and utility improvements along 46th Street from Ellis Road to Klein Avenue.
Day closure work along Ellis Road is anticipated to be completed within two weeks.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution in this area and consider alternate routes.
Lane and Sidewalk Closure – North Minnesota Avenue
Beginning on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., the outside northbound lane of North Minnesota Avenue starting on West Ninth Street and continuing north into existing construction, will be closed. The east sidewalk will be closed along North Minnesota Avenue. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the west sidewalk. The north sidewalk along West Ninth Street will be closed from North Minnesota Avenue to North Dakota Avenue with pedestrian traffic detoured to the south sidewalk.
Stein Sign Display will be doing crane work for sign installation.
The work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day May 22, 2026.

Street Closure – West Blackhawk Street
Beginning at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, West Blackhawk Street will be closed between North Minnesota Avenue and A Avenue. Traffic can use either West Algonquin Street or Russel Street as a detour route.
Runge Enterprises Inc. will be installing new utilities.
The street is expected to be opened and traffic control removed by the end of the day on May 26, 2026.

Street Closure – South Sheldon Lane
Beginning at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, South Sheldon Lane will be closed between West 41st Street and Angie Place. The west sidewalk will be closed. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the east sidewalk.
The Water Department will be installing a new fire hydrant.
The street is expected to be opened and traffic control removed by the end of the day.

Lane Closure – Russell Street
Beginning on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the outside and center westbound lanes of West Russell Street will be closed between Minnesota Avenue and West Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete repairs, curb & gutter repairs, and joint resealing.
One lane of traffic will be maintained in the inside westbound lane. In the upcoming weeks, the location of the lane closure on westbound Russell Street will vary between Minnesota Avenue and West Avenue. At a minimum, one westbound lane of traffic will remain open at all times. Access to businesses, homes and side streets will be maintained.
This work in this area is anticipated to be complete in early July. Work on Russell Street will be ongoing through October 2026.
