Lane Closure – Ellis Road
Beginning on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, there will be daytime lane closures along Ellis Road at West 46th Street. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic. These closures are a part of the roadway and utility improvements along West 46th Street from Ellis Road to Klein Avenue.
Weather permitting, day closure work along Ellis Road is anticipated to be completed within two weeks.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution in this area and consider alternate routes.
Street Closure – 46th Street
Beginning on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, West 46th Street will be closed east of Ellis Road to Klein Avenue to allow crews to reconstruct the roadway. Work will include underground utility improvements, drainage improvements, asphalt paving, and restoration.
Weather permitting, work for this phase of the project is anticipated to be completed within three months.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Southeastern Avenue Closure
Beginning on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Southeastern Avenue will be closed from East Bison Trail to 85th Street. A signed detour will direct traffic to Cliff Avenue and SD Highway 11.
South Veterans Parkway is a joint project between the City of Sioux Falls and the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT). This work is part of the construction of the second segment of South Veterans Parkway from Cliff Avenue to Sycamore Avenue. Construction on this section of the new road began in March 2025 and will continue through 2026. Construction of the southern portion of Veterans Parkway will occur in segments, with each segment taking about two years to complete.
