Street Construction Updates & Closures

Street Closure – Sixth Street
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, West Sixth Street will be closed between Kiwanis Avenue and Helen Avenue.
First Rate Excavate will be installing new utilities.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day on June 30, 2026.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closures – 41st Street and Louise Avenue
Beginning on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, there will be intermittent lane closures in various locations near the intersection of West 41st Street and Louise Avenue. 41st Street will be between Westport Avenue and Empire Place and Louise Avenue will be between Kentucky Place and 43rd Street.
Subsurface Utility Exploration (SUE) will be locating and documenting underground utilities.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day on July 10, 2026.

Lane Restriction– 33rd Street
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, West 33rd Street will be restricted to two 11-foot lanes between Costello Road and Elmwood Avenue. One lane of traffic will be allowed in each direction.
Underground Solutions Inc. will be doing utility work.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.

Street Closure – 72nd Street North
Beginning on Monday, June 29, 2026, East 72nd Street North will be closed from Seubert Avenue to 476th Avenue to allow crews to reconstruct the street. Motorists will be detoured to 258th Street. Local access to property owners will be maintained throughout construction; traffic on 476th Avenue will not be impacted at this time.
This project will include the removal of the existing gravel roadway, installation of sanitary sewer, water main, storm drainage infrastructure, grading, and asphalt paving of 72nd Street North.
This work is anticipated to be completed in mid-November.
