City Seeks Final Input on Wild Meadows Park Design

Sioux Falls residents have a final opportunity to help shape the future of Wild Meadows Park during a public meeting Thursday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m. at Oak View Library, Meeting Rooms 1 and 2, 3700 E. Third St., Sioux Falls.

The City of Sioux Falls’ Parks and Recreation Department will present a proposed park concept based on feedback from the first public meeting and a community survey. Staff also will gather final public comments before the project moves into the final design phase.

"Community feedback has guided the design of Wild Meadows Park from the beginning," said Mike Patten, park development manager for the city. "We encourage residents to attend, review the proposed plan, and share any final input before we move into the next phase."

Wild Meadows Park is a planned four-acre neighborhood park at 5200 E. Brennan Drive in northeast Sioux Falls. The park will serve the area's growing neighborhoods with recreation opportunities and community gathering spaces.

Community feedback identified the features residents value most. Survey participants ranked playgrounds, walking loops and integrated shade as their top priorities. Residents also expressed interest in play experiences designed for children of all ages, native landscaping, comfortable seating and spaces to relax in nature.

Most respondents said they expect to visit the park during evenings and weekends, arriving by foot and by car. Residents also said they want free play, arts in the parks programming and outdoor fitness opportunities. Overall, respondents said they want Wild Meadows Park to be a safe, well-maintained place where families can gather and enjoy the outdoors.

The city plans to begin construction in 2027 after completing the final design and receiving Sioux Falls City Council approval.
