Street Construction Updates & Closures

Lane Closure – Southeastern Avenue

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on August 13, 2026, the southbound lane of South Southeastern Avenue, between Magnolia Avenue and 52nd Street, will be closed to traffic. 

Southbound traffic will be redirected along the following detour route: Magnolia Avenue to South Fireside Avenue, to East 52nd Street, to Southeastern Avenue. Northbound lanes will remain open.

City of Sioux Falls Public Works crews will be making repairs to the street surface following a recent water main repair.

This work is anticipated to be completed by 5:00 p.m. on the same day.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Kiwanis Avenue

Beginning on Friday, August 14, 2026, the outside southbound lane of South Kiwanis Avenue will be closed between Ninth Street and Tenth Street to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. Southbound traffic will be maintained in the inside southbound lane. The west sidewalk along Kiwanis Avenue will also be closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to the east sidewalk.

As part of this work, the north sidewalk along Tenth Street will also be closed between Kiwanis Avenue and 11th Street to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. Pedestrians will be detoured to the south sidewalk. 

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed within one day.

Lane Closures – 18th Street and I-229

Beginning on Tuesday morning, August 18, 2026, there will be intermittent lane closures at East 18th Street and I-229.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation drilling crew will be working in the area.

This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.
