Project Update: 09/02/2025

Bridge over the diversion channel:

• The contractor has completed the necessary bridge deck repairs and placed the 2” low-slump concrete overlay on the north half of the bridge.  The process will be repeated for the south half during the first couple of weeks in September.
• In mid-September, the bridge will be closed to allow for the replacement of the drop inlets, storm sewer pipe, bridge end backfill, and approach slabs.

Bridge over BNSF Railway:

• Bridge deck repairs have begun. Through the month of September, the bridge deck surface will be ground, deteriorated areas repaired and a polymer chip seal will be placed on the deck surface.

Commuter Route Information

Bridge over the diversion channel:

• Traffic will be maintained in both directions until mid-September.  The bridge will then be closed to allow for replacement of the drop inlets, storm sewer pipe, bridge end backfill, and approach slabs.
• The duration of the September closure is estimated to be approximately one month.
• A detour route utilizing N. 4th Avenue, Benson Road, Minnesota Avenue, and Russell Street will be in place.

Bridge over BNSF Railway:

• Traffic will be maintained in both directions for the duration of this bridge preservation work.
