Project Update: 09/29/2025

Bridge over the diversion channel:

  • Work on the project is progressing, although it is currently slightly behind schedule.  Even though it was light, the precipitation received in October occurred at a critical phase and contributed to the delay.
  • The low slump dense concrete deck overlay, sleeper slabs, drop inlets, storm sewer pipe, special surface finish on the barrier curb, and bridge railing re-painting have all been completed.
  • Remaining work includes grading the area for placement of the concrete approach slabs and the new sidewalk.  Paving a 2” asphalt overlay connecting the existing asphalt roadway to the new concrete paving.  Building a recreation trail tie-in from North Drive to the existing trail and installing the chain link pedestrian fence.
  • The bridge is closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.  The closure is anticipated to remain in place until mid-November.

Bridge over BNSF Railway:

  • All preservation work has been completed.  The contractor is installing the chain link pedestrian fence and working on punch list items.  This bridge is expected to be fully open in early November.
