Project Update: 06/30/2026

• The contractor is currently working in the westbound lanes of Russell Street between Minnesota Avenue and West Avenue.  Crews are completing concrete pavement repairs, curb & gutter repairs, and joint resealing.
• Repair work on the concrete pavement, curb & gutter, and joint resealing will begin in the westbound lanes of Russell Street between Western Avenue and the I-29 northbound on ramp in early July.
• Crews continue to work on concrete repairs on Russell Street/North Drive from North Dakota Avenue to North Main Avenue.
• Work on Russell Street will be ongoing through October 2026. 

Commuter Route Information

NOTICE:  To accommodate attendees of the Sioux Falls Airshow on July 18th and 19th, beginning on Thursday, July 16 at 8:00 pm all traffic control will be removed from the lanes of travel on Russell Street from Minnesota Avenue to I-29 northbound on ramp.  All lanes will be open to traffic until 6:00 am on Monday, July 20.

• In the upcoming weeks, the location of the lane closures on Russell Street will vary between Western Avenue and the I-29 northbound on ramp.  At a minimum, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times through the work zone.  Access to businesses, homes and side streets will be maintained.
• The eastbound driving lane remains closed from Dakota Avenue to Main Avenue. In the upcoming weeks, the location of the lane closures on Russell Street in this area will vary. Traffic will be maintained in both directions and turning lanes will be maintained where possible.
