Downtown Sioux Falls is poised for transition with the planned development of the 9-acre Riverline District. It will extend west from 10th Street and Cliff Avenue to the east side of the Big Sioux River downtown to encompass Drake Springs and Nelson Park.

With its proximity to the river, the recreation trail, the Whittier neighborhood and a growing and prospering downtown, the Riverline District offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transform the area and create a vibrant and exciting future for our City.

In February 2024, the City of Sioux Falls and Friends of the Riverline District unveiled a visionary plan to include a new convention center and full-service hotel to serve Sioux Falls for the next 30 years. The 2050 vision includes plans to repurpose the existing Sioux Falls Convention Center into a publicly accessible indoor recreation and playground center.
