Measles Program

Keeping Kids Safe

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases—up to 90 percent of unvaccinated people exposed to it will become infected. It can cause serious illness, especially in young children.

In the event of a measles case, exposed children who haven’t been vaccinated may be required to quarantine for 21 days to prevent further spread. This could mean missing out on daycare or summer activities—it may also require a parent or guardian to take time off work to care for their children.

MMR Vaccine

The MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps, and rubella, and has been safely used for decades. We encourage all families to talk with their child’s medical provider about the MMR vaccine. It’s a safe and effective way to protect your child and help keep our whole community healthy.

Where can I get the MMR vaccine?

Contact your primary care or family physician to schedule an appointment. If you do not have a physician, the MMR vaccine is available for free for anyone under 18 years old at Falls Community Health.

Falls Community Health

The vaccine is available at Falls Community Health without an appointment. Visit our main clinic location in downtown Sioux Falls (521 N. Main Ave.) during regular business hours.
