City Announces Cliff Ave., I-229 Update, Back-to-School Reminders

The City of Sioux Falls, in partnership with the South Dakota Department of Transportation, announced today that Cliff Avenue at the Interstate 229 interchange will be open to traffic beginning early in the morning of Thursday, August 21. Cliff Avenue will be open to one lane of traffic in each direction ahead of the new school year, but the area will still be an active construction zone.

Lane Closure – Sixth Street

Published on August 12, 2025

Beginning at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, the eastbound lane on East Sixth Street will be closed at Reid Place. Traffic will alternate through the open westbound lane.

Lane Closure – 12th Street

Published on August 11, 2025

Beginning on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the westbound lanes and center turn lane of West 12th Street will be closed between Marion Road and Ellis Road to allow crews to prepare and pave the westbound lanes.

Emergency Signal Repair – 41st Street and West Avenue

Published on August 11, 2025

Beginning immediately, the traffic signal at West 41st Street and West Avenue will be off for the afternoon and into the evening while the crews make emergency repairs. The intersection will be open with temporary stop signs in place on West Avenue.
