Street Construction Update

Lane Closure – Solberg Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the outside northbound lane on South Solberg Avenue will be closed just north of West 58th Street.

Superior Seal will be working on sealing a parking lot. This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the day.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Street Closure – 18th Street

Beginning on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, East 18th Street will be closed between South Tabbert Circle and South Grandview Avenue to allow crews to perform sanitary sewer repairs.

Additional short-term lane restrictions between I-229 and South Sycamore Avenue will also be in place as the work progresses. Traffic on Bahnson Avenue will be maintained at all times.

This work is expected to be complete in about two weeks.

Intersection Closure – 85th Street and Sundowner Avenue

Beginning on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, the intersection of 85th Street and Sundowner Avenue will be closed to allow crews to reconstruct the intersection as the first phase of a project to reconstruct 85th Street between Heritage Parkway and Sundowner Avenue between Sioux Falls and Tea. Access will be maintained for local residents.

This is a joint project between the City of Sioux Falls and the City of Tea. Work consists of underground utility installation, grading, asphalt and concrete surfacing, and street lighting.

Motorists are advised to utilize 69th Street in Sioux Falls, Heritage Parkway (Ellis Road), and Gateway Boulevard in Tea as an alternate route.

The intersection of 85th Street and Sundowner Avenue is anticipated to reopen to traffic in late November, weather permitting.
