Lane Closure – Shirley Avenue
Beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, the northbound outside lane on South Shirley Avenue will be closed between 41st Street and 34th Street.
Dave’s Construction will be performing directional drilling.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Street Closure Update – 41st Street
Beginning on Monday afternoon, May 5, 2025, West 41st Street is scheduled to re-open to traffic on. Until then, traffic should continue utilizing the temporary detour on Ellis Road, 12th Street, and 466th Avenue.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Prairie Trail Park Improvements
Beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, construction improvements will begin on the walking trail at Prairie Trail Park. The existing asphalt trail will be replaced with a new concrete trail between South Sawgrass Circle and Tomar Road.
Areas of the park not impacted by construction will remain open.
Visitors are urged to use caution and avoid areas of the park under construction.
The improvements to Prairie Trail Park are anticipated to be completed by June 13, 2025.
Lane Closure – Ninth Street
Beginning on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the westbound outside lane of West Ninth Street with be closed between Mall Avenue and Phillips Avenue to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. Motorists will be allowed to turn right onto Phillips Avenue from the adjacent lane.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed within three days.

Lane Closure – 41st Street
Beginning on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the outside westbound lane of West 41st Street will be closed between Kiwanis Avenue and Westport Avenue to allow crews to complete sidewalk improvements. One lane of westbound traffic will be maintained in the inside westbound lane, eastbound traffic will not be impacted at this time.
This is the second of eight phases of the project, which includes sidewalk improvements on both sides of 41st Street from Western Avenue to Westport Avenue, and on Minnesota Avenue from 11th Street to 18th Street.
The entire project is anticipated to be completed by August.
