Lane Closures – 49th Street
Beginning on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, East 49th Street will be reduced to two-way traffic at the railroad crossing just west of Southeastern Avenue.
BNSF Railroad will be replacing railroad signals.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the evening of August 7, 2025.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closures – Cliff Avenue
Beginning on Saturday, August 9, 2025, South Cliff Avenue will be reduced to two-way traffic at the railroad crossing just south of 12th Street.
BNSF Railroad will be replacing railroad signals.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the evening of August 10, 2025.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closure – Western Avenue
Beginning on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the northbound lanes and southbound lanes of South Western Avenue will be closed intermittently between Veterans Parkway and Lincoln County Highway 106 to allow crews to temporarily repair the roadway settlement in this area. One lane of traffic in each direction will always be open.
This work is anticipated to be completed in one day.

About South Veterans Parkway
South Veterans Parkway is the remaining 8.7 miles of Veterans Parkway that will connect Interstate 29 to Interstate 90. In 2020, the northern segment of Veterans Parkway opened to traffic, and the South Dakota Transportation Commission agreed to complete construction of South Veterans Parkway to accommodate regional and future growth and development. Construction will begin in summer 2023 and will occur in segments, with each segment taking about two years to complete. The project is anticipated to be fully completed in 2027.
