Street Construction Updates & Closures

Street Closure – 23rd Street

Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, East 23rd Street will be closed at Veterans Parkway to allow crews to install sanitary sewer pipe and repair the roadway.

This work is anticipated to be completed in approximately three weeks.

Motorists should utilize Shafer Drive off 26th Street to access the adjacent neighborhood.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closure - Cliff Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the outside northbound lane of South Cliff Avenue will be closed between 49th Street and the Tuthill Park entrance to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. Southbound traffic on Cliff Avenue will not be impacted.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed in about one week.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closure – North Drive

Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the eastbound lane of North North Drive, across the bridge over the BNSF Railway, will be closed to allow crews to begin bridge repairs.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction.

This work is anticipated to be completed in late October.

Street Closure – Phillips Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, North Phillips Avenue will be closed between Fourth Street and Fifth Street to allow crews to perform utility work. Northbound traffic on Phillips Avenue will be detoured to Main Avenue via Second Street and Fifth Street. Southbound traffic on Phillips Avenue will not be impacted.

This work is anticipated to be completed in approximately three weeks.

Lane Closures – Minnesota Avenue

Beginning at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the outside northbound lane and outside southbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue will be closed for approximately 300 feet at West 21st Street.

Xcel Energy will be installing a new span or wire over Minnesota Avenue.

This work is anticipated to be completed and traffic control removed within a few hours.

Lane Closures – Cavalier Avenue and Liberator Circle

Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the intersection of South Cavalier Avenue and Liberator Circle will be reduced to a single lane on both streets. There will be a flagger in place to maintain traffic through the intersection.

Johnson Dirt Works will be making a new utility connection.

This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day on September 2, 2025.

Intersection Closure – 20th Street and Gary Drive

Beginning on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the intersection of East 20th Street and Gary Drive will be closed for street and utility construction.

Motorists should utilize Cleveland Avenue or other neighborhood streets during the closure.

Weather permitting, the intersection is anticipated to reopen in three weeks.
