Public Invited to Share Feedback on Shape Sioux Falls 2050 Plan
Published on September 03, 2025
The City of Sioux Falls Planning and Development Services invites the public to share input and prioritize recommendations on the draft Shape Sioux Falls 2050 comprehensive plan, either online or in person.
Shape Sioux Falls 2050 is a long-range development plan that will guide growth and development in Sioux Falls over the next 25 years.
In addition to the online public engagement website, the public will have two pop-up events in September and one open house in October to connect with Planning and Development Services staff, learn more about the plan, and provide feedback:
- Lake Lorraine Farmers Market
Thursday, September 4, 2025
2500 South Lorraine Place
4 to 7 p.m.
- Downtown Riverfest 2025
Saturday, September 20, 2025
Cherapa Place along the Big Sioux River Greenway
2 to 8 p.m.
- Siouxland Libraries—Downtown Library
Monday, October 6, 2025
200 North Dakota Avenue
5 to 7 p.m.
“Since our first round of public engagement last fall, our team has worked on reviewing the feedback and updating the draft plan accordingly,” said Kevin Smith, Assistant Director of Planning and Development Services. “Now, as we enter the second round of public engagement, we want Sioux Falls residents to confirm we are on the right track. This is a plan to guide how and where our community grows, so we very much need to reflect the community’s vision and priorities. We hope the public will continue to engage with us on this next round, however they feel most comfortable: online or in person in casual, community-focused settings.”
Once finalized, the Shape Sioux Falls 2050 plan will be presented to the Sioux Falls Planning Commission for review. Following Planning Commission approval, the plan will move to the Sioux Falls City Council for final adoption.
