Street Construction Updates & Closures

Street Closure – Cleveland Avenue

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, North Cleveland Avenue will be closed. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto East Pearl Street while southbound traffic will be detoured onto East Madison Street.

The Water Maintenance and Street Departments will be making a repair. The work is expected to be completed by 2:30 p.m. that day.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Intermittent Street Closure – 12th Street

Beginning on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, East 12th Street will be intermittently closed to through traffic from Bahnson Avenue to Charlotte Avenue.

The City of Sioux Falls Street Division will be conducting road maintenance work. The roadway is expected to be fully open to through traffic on the evening of Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Street Closure – Paulton Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, South Paulton Avenue will be closed at the intersection of Southeastern Avenue and Paulton Avenue to allow the contractor to complete sidewalk and valley gutter repairs.

During this closure, Southeastern Avenue will be open to traffic; however, traffic will be shifted to accommodate the construction work.

The repairs are anticipated to be finished in one week, weather depending.

Lane Shift – 18th Street

Beginning on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the westbound lane of West 18th Street between Summit Avenue and Spring Avenue will be shifted to allow the contractor to complete sidewalk repairs.

The repairs are anticipated to be finished in one week, weather depending.

Sidewalk Closures – Caille Library

Beginning on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, a portion of the sidewalks on the northeast side by the entrance to the Caille Library will be closed to allow the contractor to complete sidewalk repairs.

During this time, the library will remain open to the public during its normal operating hours.

The repairs are anticipated to be finished in two weeks, weather depending.

Pedestrians shall use caution around the construction zone.

Lane Closure – Minnesota Avenue

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, the outside southbound lane of North Minnesota Avenue will be closed between Algonquin Street and Blackhawk Street.

Huff Construction will be doing concrete work. This work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day on Monday, October 13, 2025.
