Street Closure – East 26th Street
Beginning on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., East 26th Street will be closed between South 9th Avenue to South 10th Avenue. Traffic will be detoured to East 33rd Street at South Minnesota Avenue and South Cliff Avenue.
City of Sioux Falls Water Maintenance crews are making road repairs following a water main leak.
This work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Minnesota Avenue Construction Open House
The City of Sioux Falls will host a Public Open House from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at City Center, 231 N. Dakota Ave., in the Cooper Room (main floor). The purpose of the public open house is to share information about the upcoming Minnesota Avenue Phase 2 construction project, which is scheduled to begin in early March. Utility and surfacing improvements will be completed this year. Minor grading, landscaping, and clean- up work will carry over into early 2027. The public is welcome to attend at any time during the public open house; this will be an informal event with no presentation. Representatives from HDR and the City Engineer’s Office will be available to answer questions from landowners and members of the public regarding the project.
Construction will include street and utility improvements from 2nd Street to just north of 8th Street. Construction is scheduled to begin in early March, weather permitting. During construction, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained, and on-street parking in the project area will be prohibited.
If an ADA accommodation is needed for the Public Open House on February 26, please contact the City of Sioux Falls Human Relations Office at 605-367-8745 or human.relations@siouxfalls.gov at least 72 hours before the event.
