Street Construction Updates & Closures

Street Closure – Katie Avenue

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, South Katie Avenue will be closed between 26th Street and Lavern Wipf Street. The east sidewalk of South Katie Avenue will be closed. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the west sidewalk.

Runge Enterprises, Inc. will be doing utility work. This work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day on Friday, June 12, 2026.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Utility Work – Sonya Sotomayor School Area

Beginning on Friday, May 29, 2026, crews will be performing repairs to the sanitary sewer at various locations between South Euclid Avenue and South West Avenue, and between West 22nd Street and West 26th Street. There will be intermittent short term lane restrictions, short term road closures, and driveway access restrictions as the work progresses. 

The repairs are anticipated to be completed within three weeks.
