Street Construction Updates & Closures

Lane Closures – 41st Street and Kiwanis Avenue
Beginning on Monday, June 29, 2026, there will be a partial lane closure at the corner of West 41st Street and Kiwanis Avenue.
The outside eastbound lane on 41st Street will be closed approximately 100 yards before Kiwanis Avenue. The southbound lane will be closed to thru traffic approximately 100 yards on Kiwanis Avenue at 41st Street. Traffic will be re-directed to allow southbound travel.
The City of Sioux Falls Street Division will be conducting concrete work.
This work is anticipated to be completed by approximately 4:00 p.m.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Street Closure – 72nd Street North
Beginning on Monday, June 29, 2026, East 72nd Street North will be closed from Seubert Avenue to 476th Avenue to allow crews to reconstruct the street. Motorists will be detoured to 258th Street. Local access to property owners will be maintained throughout construction; traffic on 476th Avenue will not be impacted at this time.
This project will include the removal of the existing gravel roadway, installation of sanitary sewer, water main, storm drainage infrastructure, grading, and asphalt paving of 72nd Street North.
This work is anticipated to be completed in mid-November.

Lyon Park - Play Equipment Closure
Beginning on Monday, June 29, 2026, the playground equipment area at Lyon Park will be closed to allow the contractor to complete repairs and install new play structures.
The shelter will remain open during this time.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed in two weeks.
Park users are urged to use caution while near the construction area.
41st Street - Lane and Sidewalk Closures
Beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the outside westbound lane of West 41st Street between Shirley Avenue and I-29 will be closed. The north sidewalk will be closed; pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the south sidewalk.
MidAmerican Energy will be doing utility work.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.

Street Closure – Phillips Avenue
Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, South Phillips Avenue will be closed between Tenth Street and 11th Street. The west sidewalk will be closed, and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the east sidewalk.
Northwest Corporations will be doing crane work.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.

Cleveland Avenue – Lane and Sidewalk Closures
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, southbound traffic of North Cleveland Avenue between Madison Street and Rice Street will be shifted to the center left turn lane. The west sidewalk will be closed.
Xcel Energy will be doing utility work.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day, July 2, 2026.
