Street Construction Updates & Closures

Lane Closure – 12th Street
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, the outside eastbound lane of West 12th Street will be closed between Sertoma Avenue and La Mesa Drive.
The City of Sioux Falls Water Maintenance Division will be replacing a fire hydrant. This work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closures – West Avenue
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, the northbound lanes of North West Avenue will be closed between Ninth Street and Eighth Street. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto North Lake Avenue.
The City of Sioux Falls Water Maintenance Division will be repairing a water main. This work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closure – Oxbow Avenue
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, the South Oxbow Avenue right turn lane onto West 57th Street will be closed. Westbound turns onto West 57th Street are allowed.
Double H Paving will be staging equipment. This work is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

Lane Closure – Western Avenue
Beginning on Friday, July 10, 2026, the outside southbound lane of South Western Avenue will be closed between 49th Street and 50th Street to allow crews to perform storm drainage repairs. One lane of southbound traffic will be maintained in the inside driving lanes at all times.
This work is expected to be complete in approximately one week.

Lane Closure – Sycamore Avenue
Beginning on Monday, July 13, 2026, the outside southbound lane on South Sycamore Avenue will be closed from Fanelle Avenue to 10th Street / Arrowhead Parkway to allow crews to construct the new driveway for Fire Station #2.
Two southbound lanes will be maintained throughout the work by shifting traffic to the east, using one southbound lane and the center turn lane through the work zone.
Pedestrian access will be maintained through the work zone.
Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed in late August.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution, reduce speeds in the work zone, and consider alternate routes when traveling in the area.
Extended Street Closure – Blackhawk Street
The West Blackhawk Street closure between Minnesota Avenue and A Avenue will be extended to the end of the day on Friday, July 10, 2026. Traffic can use either Algonquin Street or Russell Street as a detour route.
Runge Enterprises Inc. is installing new utilities.
