Street Construction Updates & Closures

Lane Closure – South Sycamore Avenue
Beginning on Monday, July 13, 2026, the outside southbound lane on South Sycamore Avenue will be closed from Fanelle Avenue to 10th Street / Arrowhead Parkway to allow crews to construct the new driveway for Fire Station #2.
Two southbound lanes will be maintained throughout the work by shifting traffic to the east, using one southbound lane and the center turn lane through the work zone.
Pedestrian access will be maintained through the work zone.
Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed in late August.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution, reduce speeds in the work zone, and consider alternate routes when traveling in the area.
Lane Closures – North Sycamore Avenue
Beginning on Monday, July 13, 2026, the inside northbound and southbound lanes, and the center turn lane on North Sycamore Avenue, will be closed at Sixth Street to allow the contractor to complete water main and concrete repairs. There will be no southbound left turns allowed from Sycamore Avenue onto Sixth Street during this closure.
Weather permitting, the repairs are expected to be finished in two weeks.

Street Closure – 10th Avenue
Beginning on Monday, July 13, 2026, South 10th Avenue will be closed on the north side of 17th Street to allow crews to install a valley gutter across 10th Avenue.
Motorists should utilize East 16th Street to enter and exit the neighborhood. Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed in one week.

Intersection & Recreation Trail Closure – Sheldon Lane & Kiwanis Avenue
Beginning on Monday, July 13, 2026, South Sheldon Lane will be closed at the intersection of
South Kiwanis Avenue to allow crews to make storm drainage repairs. Northbound and southbound traffic will remain open on Kiwanis Avenue.
The recreation trail on the west side of South Kiwanis Avenue will be closed. Pedestrians should use the posted detour route.
Weather permitting, the intersection and recreation trail is anticipated to reopen in three weeks.

Street Closure – Revere Drive
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, East Revere Drive will be closed between Brennan Court and Highline Avenue.
VeldCo will be paving. This work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Sidewalk Closure & Parking Restriction – 33rd Street
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the south sidewalk along West 33rd Street between Prairie Avenue and Summit Avenue will be closed. Parking along this area will be restricted.
Northwest Corp will be doing crane work. This work is expected to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day.

Extended Lane & Sidewalk Closure – Cliff Avenue
The South Cliff Avenue outside southbound lane closure between 77th Street and Veterans Parkway will be extended to Friday, July 17, 2026. The west sidewalk is closed, and pedestrian traffic is detoured to the east sidewalk.
Runge Enterprises is installing new utilities.
