The City of Sioux Falls has updated its outdoor pools closure schedule through Sunday, Aug. 16.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as we worked to quickly correct the outdoor pools closure date, from August 9 to 16, that was determined during last year’s budget process,” said Brett Kollars, assistant director of Parks and Recreation. “We’re grateful for the continued support from our residents and the dedication of our Parks and Recreation staff.”
The updated outdoor pool closures:
Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center
Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center will be open daily from 1 to 8 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 16. Lap swimming and water walking will continue weekdays from 11 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 14.
McKennan Wading Pool
McKennan Wading Pool will continue its normal operating hours through Sunday, Aug. 16. The pool is open daily from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
Kuehn Pool
Beginning Monday, Aug. 10, Kuehn Pool will transition to weekend-only operations. Kuehn Pool will be open Saturday, Aug. 15, and Sunday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 8 p.m.
Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center
Beginning Monday, Aug. 10, Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center will transition to weekend-only operations. Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center will be open Saturday, Aug. 15, and Sunday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 8 p.m.
Frank Olson Pool
Frank Olson Pool will close for the season on Sunday, Aug. 9, at 8 p.m.
Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center
Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center will close for the season on Sunday, Aug. 9, at 8 p.m. to accommodate previously scheduled pool maintenance.
The annual Swimming Gone to the Dogs event also has new dates, giving residents and their well-behaved, family-friendly dogs one last opportunity to enjoy the pools before the season ends.

Both events will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Residents may bring up to two dogs. Dogs must be accompanied by their owners, be current on vaccinations and follow off-leash rules. The event is free, and no registration is required.
The closing schedule for city-operated splash pads remains unchanged:
Pioneer Splash Pad and Hayward Splash Pad
Midco Aquatic Center Splash Pad
The splash pad will close for the season at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.
Great Plains Zoo Splash Pad
The splash pad will close for the season at the end of the day Monday, Sept. 7.
Jacobson Plaza Splash Pad
The splash pad will remain open through 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, before closing for the season.
The Parks and Recreation Department also operates the Midco Aquatic Center and Westside Recreation Center, offering year-round indoor aquatic opportunities. Summer swim passes can be used at both locations through Labor Day.
