The City of Sioux Falls’ Parks and Recreation Department will host a public meeting Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 5:30 p.m. to kick off the design process and gather community input for the Whispering Woods South neighborhood park master plan in southeast Sioux Falls.
The meeting will take place at Horizon Elementary School, 5800 S. Bahnson Ave. The design team will give a brief presentation and gather initial community feedback. Attendees can ask questions and share ideas to help guide future park improvements.
“Community input will help us understand what residents value most and what amenities would best serve the neighborhood,” said Mike Patten, the city’s park development manager. “This meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn about the project, share their priorities and help shape the park’s future.”
Whispering Woods South is an existing 6.85-acre park adjacent to Harrisburg Horizon Elementary School. The city partners with local school districts to develop parks near schools and share amenities with the community.
The park features an accessible playground, swings and open green space for sports practices and general recreation. Outside school hours, visitors can also use the school’s second playground, outdoor asphalt court and off-street parking.
The master planning process will identify potential improvements and amenities that best meet neighborhood needs. Community feedback will help establish priorities and guide future planning.
Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting and share their ideas. Those unable to attend can provide feedback through the project engagement website at engage.thinkconfluence.com/whispering-woods-south-park-master-plan.
